Hello everyone and thanks for visiting my blog!
Today I'm going to be talking about places I have lived and places I have visited.
I was born and raised in a small town called Acton in Ontario. Its 45 minutes outside of Toronto. After I graduated I moved to London, ON where I went to college at Fanshawe.
I loved living in London but it was nothing compared to where I moved next. After I was finished school I went out west to Jasper, Alberta!
Jasper was amazing!!! It was such an unbelievable place to live. Jasper is located in the middle of Jasper National Park and is in the heart of the Rockies! I loved living in Jasper, its a perfect little mountain town. Everyone knows everyone! I worked for the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge and met so many great people. I met numerous of my current best friends as well as my future hubby and current boyfriend. I would totally recommend to anyone to go out to Jasper for a summer to work! Its such an amazing experience. I lived in Jasper for close to 3 years and encountered numerous bears, elk, coyotes, and even wolves! I worked on the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Golf course and got to see a bear almost everyday! Half way through the summer you almost get sick of seeing all the wildlife because it stops you from doing your job to get off to party! Haha
Below I will post a few collages of my time in Jasper!
While living in Jasper it gave me the opportunity to travel to a bunch of places I had never been!
Jasper is located 4 hours from Edmonton and 5 hours from Calgary. Since Jasper has NO shopping malls anywhere close we always had to go to Edmonton or Calgary. I also got to go shopping in Seattle once which was amazing!
Based on my experience with Edmonton I would never recommend someone to live there. That's just my personal opinion. Edmonton gets extremely cold winters and I find the city to be a little sketchy.
However Calgary still gets cold winters but I find the City to be very clean and easy to get around.
If I had to pick between the two, it would be Calgary for sure! Being 1 hour from Banff when in Calgary is an awesome benefit.
I also got the opportunity to travel to Lake Louise, Banff, Kamloops, Sun Peaks, Whistler, and a few other small towns in the Rockies.
Below is another collage of pictures I took throughout our journeys!
Now after my boyfriend and I visited Vancouver for our first time we
fell in love! We went to Whistler, Vancouver, Victoria and back to
Vancouver. We stayed at all Fairmont Hotels since we worked for the
company the discount price for a room was amazing! A typical room at the
Pacific Rim in Vancouver is anywhere from 200-1000.00 a night! We were
paying 70-85.00 a night! Since we had such an amazing privilege we got
to travel to numerous Fairmonts for great prices! I received amazing
service in every single one! Here is a list of all the Fairmonts I have
stayed in and below the list will be some more pictures of the hotels!
Fairmont Chateau Lake Louis
Fairmont Calgary Palaser
Fairmont McDonald Edmonton
Fairmont Vancouver Airport
Fairmont Waterfront Vancouver
Fairmont Pacific Rim Vancouver
Fairmont Hotel Vancouver
Fairmont Chateau Whistler
Fairmont Empress Victoria
Fairmont Olympic Seattle
Fairmont Royal York
Like I said above, after we visited Vancouver we fell in love and
decided to move there. I pursued my career in the hotel industry as a
Food and Beverage Supervisor and Delta Hotels for the Vancouver Airport
Hotel.
We lived in Vancouver for only 6 months because we decided we
wanted to come back and be closer to family. We also moved there during
winter, having no snow was an awesome bonous but the weather sucked! It
was rainy all the time and the sky was always grey. It was very
depressing after a while. Here are some pictures of our time in
Vancouver!
& Finally to wrap it all up, my boyfriend and I moved back home
to Ontario and decided to settle in a small city called North Bay. It is
4 hours north of Toronto and situated on Lake Nippissing. We are lucky
enough to live 2 blocks from the beach and get an awesome view of the
lake out our window.
So this concludeds my blog about places Ive lived and visited and some pictures to go along!
On a final note, check out my final collage below of my time in North Bay so far!
Thanks for reading,
xoxo alicia
